Football Association of Wales

The Football Association of Wales has a distinguished pedigree – founded in 1876, it’s only the third national governing body created. The FAW is a member of FIFA and UEFA and is one of the five associations (together with FIFA, The FA, SFA and IFA) which comprise the International Football Association Board, the guardians of the ‘Laws of the Game’.

The Competition department handles all domestic football administration; ranging from top level Welsh premier league to all national cup competitions, referees and the UEFA club licensing. All clubs are subject to annual audit – this covers compliance with minimum standards for grounds, development, personnel, administration, finance and legal requirements. Audits generate large volumes of paperwork. Andrew Howard, Head of Competitions, explains, “It was clear our storage options were going to run out so we began to look at other options.”

The introduction of a Document Filing System has assisted the management of the club licensing scheme, allowing all documentation to be stored electronically.
